🔴 The sequence of waterfalls (the largest of which is over 5 m high) on the Beu River upstream of Lake Ochiul Beiului forms the Beușniței Waterfalls. These were born through the action of water for millennia in the limestone substrate. The water-dissolved limestone was deposited layer-by-layer along the course of the river, forming a calcareous tuff, soft and permeable rock that allowed the modeling of countless shapes, mini-dams, water meshes, and successive waterfalls. Located in the strict protection area with natural reserve status within the Nera Gorge -Beușnița National Park in Caraș-Severin county, the Beușnita waterfalls represent a unique phenomenon, a true monument of nature, and an objective of significant tourist, geological and landscape value." The Ochiul Beiului is a natural lake with an area of 284 m² near the Beușnița Waterfalls on the Beu stream, in the Nera Gorge-Beușnița National Park. It is powered by a submersible spring.
