Le cimetière de Morne à l'Eau en Guadeloupe

The cemetery of Morne à l'Eau in Guadeloupe extends in an amphitheater on a height at the entrance of the city. This city of the dead, whose oldest tomb dates from 1847, marks a break with the slavery period, during which slaves were most often buried on the ground away from cemeteries reserved for whites. With its imposing black and white checkerboard tombs resembling small houses, the ensemble draws a striking composition. The place is fascinating on All Saints Day when it is lit by thousands of candles and invaded by crowds. #mornealeaucemetery #guadeloupe #guadeloupetourism Discovering or rediscovering Guadeloupe together is a real pleasure that I like to share!
