Dab neeg Nkauj hli tuag ua dab neeg tshai tag zos

Long ago, there was a Hmong woman named Nkaij Hli. She had grown older but no Hmong man ever came to marry her. Feeling lonely and heartbroken, she often wandered the fields singing sad songs. One day, ghosts and spirits began speaking to her, making her even more sorrowful. Eventually, she died alone in an old abandoned field. After her death, the villagers carried Nkaij Hli's body back to the village. As they walked, they could hear the terrifying cries of a female ghost chasing behind them. After Nkaij Hli died, the villagers believed no one should say her name. Anyone who mentioned Nkaij Hli was said to see her ghost appear and frighten them.
