My beloved miniature dachshund, Rio, was 8 years old when she suddenly developed symptoms of jaundice on December 28th, the end of the year. His eyes were yellow, and his urine seemed more orange than usual. I called the hospital and they said, "Bring him in right away." The vet said, "Please hospitalize him immediately. This could be life-threatening." I was overcome by a tsunami of anxiety, and a fear I had never felt before, that I was at risk of losing Rio. I couldn't stop crying. I vividly remember the day I went home alone, crying in full view of everyone. He had always been healthy up until then... I had taken his good health for granted... It was his first hospitalization, his first surgery, and I didn't know what to expect. I prayed every day, visited him every day out of worry, and could only watch over him. Fortunately, he was able to be released from the hospital two weeks later. Monthly visits to the hospital, blood tests, and medication continued for over a year, and I began to seriously consider, "What can I do for Rio?" What I learned most of all was, "Being able to be with Rio is never something to be taken for granted." "It's a special, precious time, and sadly, it's limited." Since then, I've researched and learned various information, and since that day, I've been growing alongside Rio. The more you think about your beloved dog, the more you worry and feel anxious, right? I want to share those worries with fellow dog lovers I can trust, learn, grow, and laugh together, and make the limited time we spend together with our beloved dogs more joyful, more comfortable, and more fulfilling!
