What kind of school life do today's high school students lead? This time, a special edition! We followed the graduation ceremony of an all-boys junior and senior high school. A Close Look at the Graduation Ceremony of an All-Boys Junior and Senior High School Today, we visited Kitamine Junior and Senior High School. It is a fully all-boys junior and senior high school. Of the 120 students in each grade, approximately half are from outside Sapporo and live in the dormitory. Kitamine is a prestigious school that attracts students from all over Japan. What kind of students are graduating, and what dreams are they pursuing? Our cameras followed them on this special day! Announcer Yonaga: "We're visiting the classrooms of the graduating sixth graders." Announcer Yonaga: "What are your goals after graduation?" Harakawa: "I want to be a pediatrician!" Kitamine High School ranks second in the nation in terms of the rate of students accepted into national and public medical schools! Students aspiring to become doctors gather from all over the country. Harakawa is one of them. And the doctor he aspires to be is... Harakawa: "I want to become a kind, reliable doctor who doesn't make people anxious. I'm so grateful to my parents for supporting me through all this!" Vice Principal Goto: "This is Fujita. I'm a fan of announcer Honma. Can I shake your hand? I'm a fan of HBC announcers." Fujita: "I love HBC, so I hope you do your best." Fujita actually loves HBC Radio. So what's his dream? Fujita: "I want to analyze baseball data and unravel the game through numbers. If we can use numbers to determine which angles are more likely to result in a hit without the ball being caught by the fielder, I think that would be an easier goal for players, and I'd be happy to be involved in something like that." Next up is Sasaki Kento, a Yokohama native. "One thing" makes him the strongest in the school! Something like that... Sasaki: "I placed 5th in the prefectural judo tournament for newcomers." Yonaga: "Are you the champion at this school for 6 years?" Sasaki: "Undefeated." Yonaga: "Undefeated? Really? You're amazing!" First-year students arrive in the 6th-grade classroom. Yonaga: "What are you all here for?" First-year students: "Were we here to wear flowers?" Yonaga: "How did it feel to have a first-year student wear one?" Haraguchi: "I'm so happy. I'm so happy that my juniors are thinking of me and wearing it for them." Yonaga: "Were you nervous?" Hamamoto: "Yes." Yonaga: "How are you feeling right now?" Hamamoto: "Hmm, kind of..." Fuchimoto: "I'm counting on you guys in 5 years." The graduates proceed to the venue. Shimizu: "Button it." Sato: "There's no button..." Shimizu: "Do it properly!" Yonaga: "Buttons? You're missing them?" Sato: "I gave them all away. I gave them all to friends." Yonaga: "You gave them all to friends?!" Sato: "Well, not friends, but more like memories." The graduation ceremony began at 9:30 AM. After six years at school, everyone left to go their separate ways... Kobayashi, who was passionate about rugby... Kobayashi: "While playing in the club, I was treated by a doctor and somehow felt inspired. I applied to the University of Tokyo's Department of Science III." An injury sustained while playing rugby inspired him to aim to become a doctor. Kobayashi: "I was able to use the English skills I developed during my time at Kitamine to interact with Harvard students and deepen my understanding of different cultures through local life..." After the graduation ceremony... Yonaga: "You were a little overwhelmed with emotion. Did you look back?" Komatsu: "Yes, I did. It wasn't so much looking back, but rather the fact that we'll never see each other again..." Yonaga: "What are you all going to do after this?" Hyakukan: "We're going to hang out after the dorm ceremony." Yonaga: "What's a dorm ceremony?" Hyakukan: "The dorm ceremony is for the residents of Seiun Dormitory. As the dorm representative, I have a speech to make, but I'll do my best." Next to the school is a student dormitory where 400 students live. Here, the residents have spent mornings, nights, and weekends... together for six years. Yonaga: "There's a ton of luggage here. It belongs to everyone." Dorm Mother Nakagawara: "It's the luggage of the graduating students." Dorm Mother Nakagawara: "Will everything be completely empty at the graduation ceremony?" Dorm Mother Nakagawara: "The sixth-graders' belongings will be completely empty. Only memories will remain. Only memories will remain." Dorm Mother Nakagawara: "I'm getting nervous. I'm starting to get restless." Parent: "When my child is in trouble and says 'what should I do?', I ask Ms. Nakagawara for help and she usually solves everything, even the smallest issues. A mother from Hokkaido." Parent:...
