The CUPRA TERRAMAR arrives at Arrancamos 2.0, the best Spanish-language automotive channel on YouTube, with its most powerful of the five available versions: the 272 hp plug-in hybrid. It's an eye-catching car, aggressive in its design, but it's still a C-segment SUV that, in 2025, has many strong mainstream rivals that won't let it take off due to its excessive price. We don't understand why it doesn't carry the SEAT badge and cost €8,000 less... maybe not the version tested here, but the entry-level models... come on. In-depth review of the CUPRA TERRAMAR PHEV 272 hp. The 2025 CUPRA TERRAMAR is a beautiful car. Very aggressive in its design, with many sharp features and futuristic lines... it's sure to capture the attention of its target audience: young people eager to live life to the fullest. But of course, they need this potential customer to have deep pockets, because the VW Group wants Cupra to be a quasi-premium brand, and for that, the prices have to be in line with that. And what is the price of the Cupra Terramar? It's truly a car that isn't worth what it costs, in any of its five engine options. That the starting price is over €40,000 seems like a joke, especially when you see that the Kuga, Tucson, Sportage, etc., are at a very similar level and cost considerably less... it's really hard to understand. It's clear that if the manufacturing cost of a Cupra is similar to that of a SEAT, they'll obviously produce more Cupras, since they'll get more profit per unit sold for the same amount of work. But many potential buyers will be left feeling foolish, or rather, clever, when they see that the quality of both brands, which share dealerships, is similar, and the prices of the Cupra Terramar are much higher than those of the S, even with the same engine. Brand analysis aside, the car isn't bad. Especially in this version, the most powerful and well-equipped CUPRA TERRAMAR offers. It performs well in all aspects but doesn't excel in any. It's not the most spacious, nor does it have the largest trunk, nor the most intuitive and consistent software... but the design is always present, both inside and out, and that might just win over a future customer. What we found impressive was the electric range of this PHEV. The CUPRA TERRAMAR plug-in hybrid, in its 272 hp version (there's also a 204 hp version), achieves over 100 REAL kilometers without using a drop of gasoline on a single battery charge. Amazing, really. Efficiency is very well implemented in this plug-in system, and frankly, it left us speechless by exceeding 80% of its official range in real-world driving. You can adjust the noise level, reduce the weight, improve agility, even the sportiness... but overall, it's a good car that, in no way, justifies the expense, given its high price and the premium pretensions of a brand that, in our humble opinion, falls far short. On the "WOULD I BUY IT?" scale, the CUPRA TERRAMAR scores 7.6. It's a good car, let's not kid ourselves, but it's hard to understand why it doesn't carry the SEAT badge and costs 8,000 euros less. This version we tested here could be considered a Cupra, but the entry-level 150 hp petrol engine... well, over 40k just for the tribal logo...
