Doc Murph's Art Deco Music - Selected Songs from the Art Deco Era 1929 - 1934
Doc Murph's Art Deco Music - Selected Songs from the Art Deco Era 1929 - 1934 (time index for each song as you scroll down) The Jazz Age was crashing along with the Stock Market Crash of 1929, however it lingered and bumped along through the Great Depression until 1934 when the Swing Era was born. My own take on these times is that there were many records that featured lush arrangements and decidedly sentimental tunes. New York City Hotels and Night Spots featured an incredible selection of bands and orchestras that played in this style. Herein is a curated selection of some of my favorite records from the collection. The lineup: When We're Alone - Tom Gerun and His Orchestra - Scrappy Lambert, vocal - Brunswick 6236 (E37451A) 12/8/1931 0:05 You've Made Me Happy Today - The Bostonians (Joe Ryan and His Orchestra) - Scrappy Lambert vocal - Banner 6566 B (108996-3) September 1929 3:08 Jazz Nocturne - Victor Young and His Orchestra - Frank Munn vocal - Brunswick 20109 5/23/1932 5:40 Snuggled On Your Shoulder - Smith Ballew and His Orchestra - Smith Ballew, vocal - Perfect Records 15566-A (11139) 1/19/1932 10:11 Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea - Lou Gold and His Orchestra - Peter Cantor, vocal - Crown Records 3254 (1593-1) January 1932 13:13 My Ideal - Isham Jones and His Orchestra - Frank Sylvano, vocal - Brunswick 6041 (C7191A) 1/7/1931 16:20 I See Two Lovers - Norman Cloutier and his Merry Madcaps - F.
