The Leopard 1A5 is an improved version of the German-made Leopard 1A1 Main Battle Tank which was the first upgraded variant of the Leopard tank that entered into service with the German army in 1971. The Leopard one MBT was developed by the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to meet the requirements of the German Army and, following trials with prototype vehicles, was accepted for service in 1963. The first production Leopard was handed over to the Federal German Army in September 1965. The first modified Leopard 1A5 was delivered in early 1987. T 72B3 version was introduced in 2010 and is considered as a third-generation of Russian main battle tank. The T 72B3 has significantly improved its combat characteristics with more firepower, protection, mobility, and command controllability. Besides the improved armor and targeting systems, it kept all the good features of previous versions of the T 72. The modernized version of the T 72, which was a main second-generation battle tank produced in the Soviet Union since the 1970s. The T 72B3 contract was performed by the Russian Defense Company "Uralvagonzavod".Currently, the Russian army has some 8.000 T 72 in various variants in its arsenal, most of them in reserve.
