Fix and Adjustable voltage regulator using IC 78XX & LM317
The series of 7800 fixed voltage regulators eight voltage options ranging from 5V to 24V. These are having adequate heat sinking and deliver a current of more than 1A. These ICs having internal thermal overload protection and short-circuit current limiting. IC 78XX can be used as a constant current source. The LM317 is an example of a three-terminal positive voltage regulator with adjustable output voltage. The capacitors are for decoupling and do not affect the DC operation. The external fix resistor R1 and R2 provide output adjustment. Vo can be varied from 1.2V to 39V depending on the resister value. A tutorial on the LM317 voltage regulator. Shows you how to make a 1.25 to 25V adjustable voltage supply, or choose any other output voltage you want. #electronics
