シリーズ「こどものミライ」セリフは全て英語 中高生が歌舞伎に挑戦 日本の伝統文化を世界へ「いろんな人が興味を持ってくれたら」福岡

This is the series "Children's Future." At a school that focuses on English education, junior and senior high school students performed the traditional Japanese art of Kabuki in "English." Read the article about this video> https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fbs/category... Kabuki, a traditional Japanese art. The lines you hear are in fluent English. The performers are junior and senior high school students. This is the junior and senior high school division of Linden Hall School in Chikushino City, Fukuoka Prefecture. With the aim of cultivating talent that will play an active role in the international community, all classes except Japanese are taught in English. ■ Linden Hall School Junior and Senior High School Principal Tsuzuki Akesuka "I think it's important to have a firm grasp of your country's identity in order to become an international person. On top of that, I think it's important to acquire tools like English, culture, and knowledge." 72 students from junior high school 1st year to high school 2nd year will be taking on the challenge of "English Kabuki." The play is "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami," and the students will perform one act, "Kurumabiki." It depicts the people around Sugawara Michizane, who had ties to Dazaifu, as he was demoted, and the "Kurumabiki" scene is said to be full of the beauty and fun of Kabuki. ■ Junior High School 3rd Year Imazato Yura "I'll probably tie it. But depending on the day, the ribbon (on the obi) might be smaller." Yura Imazato, a junior high school 3rd year student, will play Sakuramaru, one of the triplet brothers who play the main role. It's a graceful and sexy role. ■Kabuki actor Nakamura Kazutaro "Start with a low voice and gradually increase the volume, then make it really loud at the end." The instructor is professional Kabuki actor Nakamura Kazutaro. He will be reflecting the unique Kabuki intonation in the English. ■Ichitaro "In English, the lines feel faster, so I don't speak them that fast. I try to imagine them slower than I thought." ■Yuuki "There are parts that are pronounced strongly in Kabuki and parts that are not pronounced strongly in English, so it's difficult to change that without it feeling unnatural." ■Ichitaro "If we just said it would be fine to do it in Japanese, that would be the end of it, but we have to think about how we can express it using English, which is our forte. It's about doing it a lot and getting it into your body." 3 days before the performance, Yuuki went to see Ichitaro's performance. ■Students "Thank you for your hard work." ■Yuuki-san "I cried." ■Ichitaro-san "The feelings behind what you say are the same whether you're speaking in English or Japanese. I think it's the same when it comes to acting, so I hope everyone can feel this emotion." Rehearsals were held nine hours before the show. This is the first time I've worn the costume and performed on stage. ■Yuuki-san "It's hot, it's heavy, my back hurts, it's a bit much." When changing costumes, I can't coordinate with the black robes, and I get more and more impatient. ■Yuuki-san "I made a mistake with my lines the last time. I was impatient, so I thought I had to be careful." One hour before the show, Yuuki-san was about to be crushed by the tension, and Ichitaro-san spoke to her. ■Ichitaro-san "It's okay, I'll do it well once I'm on stage." ■Yuuki-san "I'll do my best. I'm just so moved. I can't cry because it will wash off my makeup." Now, the show begins. Backstage, Yuuki checks his lines until just before his turn. Then, he finally goes on stage. The scene where he takes off his costume went smoothly, and the highlight of the show was a success. ■Foreign audience "It was my first time seeing kabuki. I understood the meaning." "The good thing about English kabuki is that it's an opportunity to attract new audiences." "Because it's in English, I think I've found a way to spread kabuki and Japanese culture around the world." ■Yuki "There are a lot of people around the world who speak English, so I hope that by using English to communicate in the same language, it will spread and more people will become interested in Japanese kabuki and traditional performing arts." "English kabuki" was the first step in spreading Japanese culture to the world. It seems that it was an opportunity for the students themselves to reexamine the charm of traditional performing arts. ※FBS Fukuoka Broadcasting Mentai Wide Broadcast at 5:00 pm on October 29, 2024 For the latest news, please visit https://news.ntv.co.jp/n/fbs.
