Swarm Control Without Tearing Apart the Brood Nest | Layens Hive

Swarm season is well underway, and one of the least disruptive ways to reduce swarm pressure is simply to create additional space where the colony needs it most. In this video, I demonstrate a minimally disruptive brood nest expansion in one of my horizontal Layens hives. Rather than tearing the brood nest apart or performing a major manipulation, I add room gradually while keeping disturbance to the colony to a minimum. This approach won’t replace every swarm control method, but it can be a useful tool for strong colonies that are beginning to run short of space.
