Meryl Streep, is in Donegal for a special screening of Dancing at Lughnasa in Glenties Comprehensive School. The story of the Mundy sisters, written by Brian Friel in his play Dancing at Lughnasa is set in Glenties. Meryl Streep the star of the screen adaptation received a warm welcome from the people of the area. Great occasion for Glenties. Before the screening, Meryl Streep and Brian Friel made a special trip to unveil a plaque at The Laurels, the house where the author’s mother and her sisters lived. Speaking to RTÉ News, the Hollywood star said, I feel so lucky that Brian has given us a glimpse into some of the cottages of Donegal, the soul of one of the homes of Donegal.
