This time on my Hokkaido road trip, I went to Odaitō in Betsukai-chō to see the first sunrise of 2023. First, I stopped off in Nakashibetsu to buy some ingredients, then headed to the Odaitō roadside station. We toasted while munching on some of the remaining chirashi sushi, listened to the bells tolling on New Year's Eve, and stuffed my face with toshikoshi soba noodles. I slept in my car over New Year's Eve in -12℃, and the next morning I was able to see a magnificent first sunrise.
