Hostie en lévitation à Lourdes 1999 - miracle eucharistique - Monseigneur Billé

On Sunday, November 7, 1999, a Mass from the famous city of Lourdes was broadcast live on French television (France 2) on the occasion of the Plenary Assembly of the Bishops of France. This ordinary event might have gone completely unnoticed were it not for what happened during the Epiclesis (the invocation of the Holy Spirit in Christian liturgies, which takes place during the Eucharistic Prayer). What happened that was so exceptional that day? As all the celebrants of the Mass pronounced the words, "pouring out your Spirit upon them," the astonished viewers saw one of the two large hosts used in the celebration tremble and then rise about two centimeters above the other. One could easily have mistaken it for a simple optical illusion, but it should be noted that this levitation lasted exactly for the duration of the prayer. At the end of the ceremony, the host came to a stop and fell as if nothing had happened. The producers of the program "Le Jour du Seigneur" (The Lord's Day) confirmed that the phenomenon had indeed occurred without any intervention on their part. The technicians, for their part, were unable to offer any explanation. At the time of the events, Archbishop Billé (who died on March 12, 2002, succumbing to cancer), Archbishop of Aix-en-Provence and later of Lyon, had himself witnessed the miracle and had advised his fellow bishops to remain silent and not publicize the matter.
