Sermon Title: "The Day of the LORD" Sermon Text: Isaiah 2:1-22 Isaiah Chapter 2 1 The word of Judah and Jerusalem, which was received from Isaiah son of Amos. 2 In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established on the tops of all the mountains; it will be exalted above all the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths.” For the law will go out from Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations and decide between many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they practice war anymore. 5 Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD. 6 The LORD has forsaken His people, the house of Jacob, for they are filled with the customs of the East. They divination like the Philistines, and they have made covenants with foreigners. 7 The land is full of silver and gold, and treasures are infinite; the land is full of horses and chariots are countless. 8 The land is also full of idols; they worship what they have made with their own hands and what they have made with their fingers. 9 The lowly bow down, and the noble submit; do not spare them. 10 Go into the clefts of the rocks and hide yourselves in the dust to escape the majesty of the LORD and the glory of His greatness. 11 On that day the haughty will be humbled, and the proud will be brought low, and the LORD alone will be exalted. 12 For the day of the LORD of hosts will come upon all the proud, the haughty, and the arrogant, and they will be humbled. 13 It will come upon all the high cedars of Lebanon and all the oaks of Bashan, 14 all the high mountains and all the rising hills, 15 all the high towers and all the fortified walls, 16 all the ships of Tarshish and all the beautiful sculptures. 17 On that day The proud will be brought low, and the arrogant will be humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted. 18 The idols will be completely destroyed. 19 People will go into caves and dens to escape His majesty and the glory of His greatness when the LORD rises up to shake the earth. 20 On that day, people will throw to the moles and bats the silver and gold idols they made to worship themselves. 21 They will go into caves and rugged rock crevices to escape His majesty and the glory of His greatness when the LORD rises up to shake the earth. 22 Do not trust in man, for his breath is in his nostrils; what value is there in him?
