Histoire de la Pologne-Lituanie (1385 - 1795)
In 1385, Poland and Lithuania formed their first union under the leadership of the Jagiellonian dynasty. This union was solidified in 1569 with the founding of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which established an elective monarchy. Poland-Lithuania reached its zenith around this time and emerged as one of the major powers in Europe. But in the 18th century, it began a dramatic decline that led to its complete disappearance in 1795.
