My FIRST Independence Day in Poland - 11 listopada 2025 Warszawa

For the first time, I celebrated Polish Independence Day (Święto Niepodległości) in Warsaw, Poland — and it was an unforgettable experience. As a Dutch woman who fell in love with Poland, I felt deeply moved by the pride, unity, and emotion of this historic day. Poland disappeared from the map for 123 years, yet the Polish spirit never died. On 11th November 1918, Poland regained its independence — only to face World War II and communism shortly after. Since 1989, Independence Day has once again become a symbol of freedom, strength, and resilience. I joined my Polish friends Romek and Gosia to walk through the streets of Warsaw, surrounded by flags, music, families, and an ocean of white and red. We waited hours for the Independence March (Marsz Niepodległości) — a powerful, emotional moment filled with pride, energy, and sometimes intensity.
