Carrickines railway station was one of the original railway stations opened on the Harcourt street railway line on July 10th 1854 it was open for just over 104 years when the line closed on new years eve 1958 - the station was used in the Johnny Nobody film filming took place on June 17/18 1960 when the line was been lifted and only down track remained from just outside Foxrock down to Shanganagh junction.
