An artificial snow system is being installed at the ski resort in the Sarıkamış district of Kars. The slopes at the resort, which has been completed with a 115,000-square-meter irrigation pond, will feature 64 pole-type, 8 mobile fan-type, and 13 fixed fan-type artificial snow machines. Work has begun on the installation of the artificial snow system at the 2,634-meter-high ski resort in the Sarıkamış district of Kars, a prominent winter tourism destination with its crystal snow, long slopes lined with pine trees, sunshine, natural beauty, and state-of-the-art facilities. The project, tendered for 255,889,200 TL on March 8, 2025, is expected to be completed on November 24, 2025. Construction on the new system will begin on a 115,000-square-meter pond, along with a total of 85 snow machines: 190 tons of water tanks, 3 transformers, 8 mobile fan-type, 13 tower-type, and 64 pole-type. This will allow for a 40-centimeter layer of artificial snow to be applied to the 5,500-meter-long slopes. Governor Ziya Polat and AK Party Kars Deputy Adem Çalkın inspected the work at Sarıkamış Ski Resort and received information from Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Fatih Tekcan and a company representative. Governor Ziya Polat said, "Sarıkamış Ski Resort is one of the most special and beautiful ski resorts in the world. We have hotels in Sarıkamış, the land of crystal snow, and our bed capacity is good. However, as you know, there have been snow problems in recent years due to the climate. Thankfully, we tendered our artificial snow facility a month and a half ago. Completing our artificial snow facility in mid-November will allow us to enter the season at Sarıkamış Ski Resort with a predetermined date. That is the biggest advantage of artificial snow. Pipe laying is being carried out as part of the work. The machinery has arrived. We will finish the first and fourth slopes. We aim to complete the fifth slope. Our fourth and fifth slopes are suitable for both intermediate and professional skiers, and we believe we can accommodate them."
