A huge thank you once again to Señor Anónimo for another brilliant recommendation. This time we're looking at something completely different... A live, unrehearsed performance of Billy Cobham's legendary composition Stratus by Yoyoka and Saxon Weiss. Stratus is one of the most influential tracks in fusion history, taken from Billy Cobham's groundbreaking 1973 album Spectrum. More than fifty years later, it's still inspiring new generations of musicians. That's one of the things I love most about this performance. To see young players embracing music like this and keeping it alive is incredibly inspiring. Yoyoka's playing here is simply phenomenal. The pocket. The confidence. The solo chops. Everything feels relaxed, musical and completely in control. It's one thing to have the technique... It's another thing entirely to make it groove like this. Chef's kiss.
