KIA PV5 Cargo Test | Was verbraucht er beladen auf knapp 1000 km an einem Tag? ED 1000!

Can an electric commercial vehicle cover almost 1,000 kilometers in just one day without becoming a rolling traffic obstacle? In the second ED1000 video of 2026, we accompany Eckart Seifert (@asphaltart) and Jan Gleitsmann (@ausfahrttv) in the KIA PV5 Cargo on their long-distance journey through Germany and the Netherlands. The all-electric KIA PV5 Cargo has front-wheel drive, a peak output of 120 kW, and a 71.2 kWh battery. Its official WLTP range is up to 416 kilometers. But what remains of that range after a nearly 1,000-kilometer trip with high temperatures, highway stretches, photo opportunities, and numerous elevation changes? Eckart and Jan started in Düsseldorf at 7:21 a.m. with a 100 percent charge. After 975.9 kilometers according to the on-board computer, or approximately 981 kilometers according to GPS, they reached their destination again at around 10:20 p.m. The battery had 20 percent charge remaining at that point. During the trip, a total of 129.02 kWh was recharged, with a total charging time of approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes. The GPS-based charging time at the four charging points was about 1 hour and 46 minutes. This means that only about eleven minutes were spent on additional processes related to the charging. The team needed approximately 14 hours and 58 minutes for the entire ED1000 trip. After deducting the documented breaks, this leaves about 12 hours and 50 minutes of pure driving time. This results in a gross average speed of approximately 65.5 km/h and a net average speed of around 76.5 km/h. The highest recorded speed was 128 km/h. Particularly interesting: On the first leg, the KIA PV5, despite its commercial vehicle dimensions, not only remained below the official WLTP consumption figures but also below our own consumption forecast. Even considering the entire ED1000 route, the electric van proved surprisingly efficient. How well does the KIA PV5 really perform on long journeys? Were four charging stops necessary, or could the team have completed the route with two longer stops? And how much time is actually lost beyond the actual charging time?
