Traveling to Mexico City with kids is an unforgettable family travel experience filled with culture, history, food, and fun. In this video, we share our complete Mexico City travel itinerary designed for families who want to explore the city at a comfortable pace while still seeing iconic sights and kid-friendly attractions. Mexico City is one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the world. From historic landmarks and bustling markets to peaceful parks, colorful neighborhoods, ancient ruins, and scenic canal rides, this trip showed us just how diverse and exciting travel with kids can be in Mexico’s capital. SUGGESTED 1 WEEK ITINERARY: Day 1: Centro Historico Day 2: Condesa and Roma Day 3 Bosque de Chapultec Day 4: Mercado de Coyoacan & Xochimilco Day 5: Basilica de Santa Maria de Guadalupe & Cablebus Indios Verders Day 6: Teotihuacan MORE DETAILS Centro Histórico Centro Histórico (Historical Center), the heart of Mexico City. You can drive around the Monumento a la Independencia (or Angél de la Independencia). The Monumento a la Revolución (Monument to the Revolution) has a glass elevator to the top with 360-degree views of Mexico City. There's a café, and outdoor seating with great views. Then climb higher to the top of the dome for an even better view. Alameda Central is a lively city park perfect for families. With shaded paths, fountains, and street vendors selling food, toys, and snacks, it’s an ideal stop when traveling with kids. Nearby is Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts), which has beautiful architecture and paintings. Next to it is Museo Palacio Postal (Postal Palace Museum), which has beautiful architecture and exhibits on Mexico's postal history. Nearby is Mirador Torre Latinoamericana (Latin American Tower) with panoramic city views. Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Plaza, aka Zócalo) is the government center. You can see the National Palace and Catedral Metropolitana (Metropolitan Cathedral), a beautiful church building. Condesa & Roma We stayed near Condesa and Roma, two of the most walkable and family-friendly neighborhoods in Mexico City. Tree-lined streets, colorful buildings, playgrounds, and endless dining options make it a great place to stay. Parque España and Parque México both offer excellent playgrounds, while the weekly Condesa Tianguis open-air market added a fun local experience for the kids. Chapultepec Bosque de Chapultepec is a large park and nature space in the middle of the city. There are multiple museums, including the Museo Nacional de Antropología (National Museum of Anthropology), Museo de Historia Natural (Natural History Museum), and Papalote Museo del Niño (Papalote Children's Museum). There's also a zoo and the Castillo de Chapultepec (castle). You can paddle boats on Lago de Chapultepec (lake), and riding the Cablebús Line 3, an aerial gondola with amazing views of the park and city. Coyoacán & Xochimilco In Coyoacán, there's Mercado de Coyoacán, a large, bustling, indoor market place where you can wander through different vendor stalls. Xochimilco Xochimilco is an area with a network of canals, and is also known as the Floating Gardens. You can board a trajinera boat and float through peaceful canals. You pass by food vendors on boats as well as restaurants and stores on the banks of the canals. Basilica & Cablebus The Basilica de Santa María de Guadalupe is a large beautiful church. There are landscaped gardens and waterfalls on the property. Within walking distance is Cablebús Indios Verdes, the station for another aerial cable car that takes you into the hills for stunning views of colorful neighborhoods. Teotihuacan About 2 hours north of the city is Teotihuacan, an ancient city with ruins of pyramids, palaces, and temples. Visit the famous Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. A short walk away is La Gruta, a restaurant inside of an underground cave. 00:00 Intro 00:18 Centro Historico 05:34 Condesa & Roma 08:12 Bosque de Chapultec 12:00 Coyoacan 12:46 Xochimilco 14:42 Basilica de Santa María de Guadalupe 16:10 Teotihuacan & La Gruta #MexicoCity #FamilyTravel #TravelWithKids #MexicoCityWithKids #TravelItinerary #MexicoTravel #FamilyAdventures
