I NGAITHLA NGAM DAWN EM CM THUSAWI THAK THAK MAI A! // Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday announced that his government has cleared ₹63.11 crore in committed liabilities within two years of taking office in December 2023. Addressing a function at the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) party office, Lalduhoma said the state had inherited liabilities totaling ₹139.57 crore from previous administrations. “Out of ₹139.57 crore, the ZPM government has repaid ₹63.11 crore in two years. The remaining ₹76.46 crore will be cleared in due course,” he stated. The Chief Minister, serving his first term, pointed out financial irregularities left by previous regimes, including contract works awarded without proper administrative approval, expenditure sanction, or work orders. He provided a departmental breakdown of progress: under the Public Works Department, ₹12.87 crore of ₹18.70 crore liabilities have been cleared; the Public Health Engineering Department has repaid ₹48.42 crore, leaving ₹58 crore pending; and for the Power and Electricity Department, ₹1.82 crore remains outstanding from ₹14.44 crore Lalduhoma assured that all remaining dues would be settled over the next three years. He also highlighted key reforms under his administration, including granting general consent to the CBI for probing corruption cases in the state. The Chief Minister further praised the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS), launched in March 2025 and operational since April, which provides ₹5 lakh cashless treatment coverage per beneficiary annually at government hospitals and empaneled private and church-run facilities, describing it as one of the country’s finest healthcare initiatives
