The Poznań June in Poland's Recent History | Prof. Stanisław Jankowiak (Adam Mickiewicz University) This lecture aims to demonstrate how the situation of Greater Poland after World War II differed from other regions of Poland. Particular attention will be paid to the foundation of the region's economy, namely highly productive agriculture. Using the example of the H. Cegielski Works, the clash between the socialist system of labor organization and the tradition of good work for fair wages will be illustrated. The relatively long path from the growing protest to the strike, resulting from previous experiences and efforts to improve working conditions, will also be highlighted. The course of the strike and the street fights in Poznań will be briefly discussed.
