We went past the neon lights and tourist traps to unlock the real Tibetan culture surviving in the shadows, leading us to a private conversation with a Buddhist master that changes everything. In this slow travel documentary, we explore the deep cultural divide in Shangri-La (formerly Zhongdian), Yunnan. From the packed, commercialized streets of Dukezong Ancient Town to the freezing rivers used for ancient water burial rituals, we peel back the layers of this manufactured paradise to find its authentic core. Along the way, we dive into the intense flavors of authentic yak hotpot, get hands-on with traditional Thangka and incense making, and print sacred sutras behind the restricted doors of Songzanling Monastery—often called the Harvard of Tibetan Buddhism. Our journey goes far beyond the standard China travel vlog. By stepping off the beaten path to explore remote snow-capped mountains and staying with a local Tibetan family, we learned what survival and spirituality truly look like on the roof of the world. But the ultimate destination of this journey is a rare, closed-door meeting with a Geshe La—a highly revered scholar—who shares a profound philosophical message about life, happiness, and the real meaning of Shangri-La. ▶️ Watch our Playlist - China Chronicles:    • Playlist   About Us We stay longer in a place to share more in-depth vlogs, guides and unique cultural insights.
