When Orlando Doesn’t Go to Plan | From Hospital to Hollywood Studios

Today was one of those Orlando days that really had a bit of everything. We woke up to find Teddy wasn’t feeling any better — in fact, he was a little worse than yesterday — so we didn’t want to take any chances and headed back to AdventHealth in Celebration. Perry dropped Teddy and me off at the children’s emergency department while he and Paige parked the car, and we honestly couldn’t believe how quick and efficient everything was. By the time they arrived inside, Teddy had already been seen, diagnosed, and prescribed antibiotics and cream. The hospital itself felt like a palace — spotless, modern, and even with a full gym inside 😮. Within minutes we were ready to leave, which gave us real peace of mind. We waited a short while at the pharmacy for the prescription, which cost $95 (thankfully something we can claim back). A quick note on travel insurance too — we’re with Barclays and added the Travel Plus Pack (£22 a month, minimum six months). Having that cover in place really does make situations like this far less stressful when you’re away from home ✈️. After leaving the hospital, we stopped at Wawa for a couple of drinks and a bagel ($15 — great value!) before heading back to the villa to relax for a bit. Later on, we made our way to Disney Springs for lunch at Blaze Pizza 🍕. Half a pizza with a drink, two full pizzas, plus extra drinks all came to just $36, which we thought was brilliant value. Perry also popped into Lost & Found to check for his glasses (lost on Guardians a few days ago), but unfortunately nothing had been handed in yet. We had a wander around the shops before heading to the PhotoPass area near Crystal Arts, where we got some great photos — including some fun Halloween ones 🎃📸. From there, we headed over to Hollywood Studios, arriving just after 3pm and managing to ride Star Tours before the rain absolutely poured down 🌧️. Luckily, our £2.50 Poundland umbrellas came in very handy. Once the rain eased, we queued for Toy Story Mania with a posted wait of around 35 minutes, before grabbing some dinner near Tower of Terror. With just a 15-minute wait, Tower of Terror was a must — especially as it’s Teddy’s favourite ride 🎢. Feeling brave, we then queued for Slinky Dog Dash, which turned out to be a longer wait than expected. The posted 50 minutes ended up being closer to 70, with Lightning Lane moving continuously through the queue. By the time we got off, the park was pretty much winding down. We grabbed a couple of drinks and ice creams 🍦 before heading out for the night. Tomorrow will be a much more chilled day so Teddy can rest properly. The girls are planning some shopping in the morning, followed by a trip to International Drive in the afternoon for the Bazza meet-up.
