To mark this anniversary of the solidarity campaign, this documentary recounts the memories of our presenters and their experiences working with families in precarious situations. Today, one in four children lives below the poverty line in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Poverty has significant consequences for children's development and future prospects. This intolerable situation led RTBF to launch the Viva for Life campaign in 2013. Since then, every year from December 17 to 23, the campaign appeals for solidarity to help them. Since 2013, the initiative has played a significant role in the fight against child poverty in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. At the request of CAP48, the University of Mons and the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) conducted a survey of funded associations in 2020. The results demonstrate that, through the funding of more than 150 associations each year, Viva for Life's support helps meet the needs of families, adapt projects to the specific challenges they face, and ensure accessibility for the most vulnerable families. Key players in the early childhood sector, such as ONE (Office de la Naissance et de l'Enfance), the King Baudouin Foundation, the General Delegate for Children's Rights, and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, all partners of Viva for Life, consistently emphasize the importance of supporting childcare, support, and parenting services to combat inequalities from the earliest years of life. The initiative is funded by RTBF (Belgian French-language public broadcaster) and with the support of private partners. RTBF is first and foremost a news outlet. Having become aware, through its numerous reports on the steady and consistent increase in poverty within our community in recent years, of this issue, it became necessary to mobilize the media and its partners to raise greater public awareness of this critical problem. Viva for Life fulfills this primary mission. Secondly, we wanted to create an opportunity for anyone who wishes to show their solidarity by making a donation to this cause. Donations and the allocation of funding to associations are managed by CAP48, according to their rigorous procedures. Many associations say that they often don't get much attention when acting alone, whereas by joining forces under a common initiative, such as Viva for Life, they are able to amplify their message more effectively. Viva for Life is a vital initiative for our society. It is all the more fitting for a public service broadcaster, with its ethical standards and resources, to implement it. 0:00 Viva for Life, 10 years of solidarity to help children in poverty ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📌 Find Viva for Life on: The RTBF website ► https://www.rtbf.be/emission/vivaforlife The 144 hours of live coverage on Auvio ► https://auvio.rtbf.be/live/viva-for-l...
