DKs are a relatively recent addition to the Warcraft universe, if we look at it from the ancient perspective but now with Shadowlands coming out and the new Jailer information they are more relevant then ever, especially as we've learned more about the Lich King. In terms of Azeroth it all began with the first generation and Teron Gorefiend and ultimately ended with the fall of Arthas and the Ebon Blade and the limited new Bolvar death knights.
