Costco Haul for a Family of 8 I Weeks of Real Food

Welcome back! Today we're taking you along on our family's BIG Costco shopping trip! We only make the trip about once every 6 weeks, so this is one of our biggest grocery hauls of the year. We're a family of 8 (Mom, Dad, and six kids) trying to feed our family as simply and intentionally as we can. Our goal isn't perfection—we just try to fill our home with wholesome food, cook almost everything ourselves, and spend as much time around the dinner table as possible. This haul ended up costing around $2,300, which is definitely higher than our normal Costco trips, but this food will feed our family for weeks. We also have a whole cow we just bought in our freezer. Our family's approach to food: 🥩 We try to buy mostly whole foods whenever possible. 🌱 We avoid artificial food dyes and heavily processed foods. 🍎 The kids eat three meals a day plus two snacks. 🍽️ Dad has been eating one meal a day (dinner). 🍰 We usually skip dessert and focus on healthy snacks instead. 🏡 Nearly all of our meals are cooked at home. One thing you'll notice...we somehow forgot the celery! 😂 It never fails that we leave Costco and realize we forgot something. Our shopping routine We live in Waco, Texas, but there isn't a Costco there yet (although one is planned over the next few years!). Instead, we drive all the way to the College Station Costco because it's much less crowded than the Georgetown location. 🚗 1 hour 40 minutes there 🚗 1 hour 40 minutes back That's over 3 hours of driving just to buy groceries! Because of that, we stock up and only make the trip every month and a half. Family traditions Every two weeks, three of our six kids head off to a sleepover, giving Mom and Dad a chance for a date night. Sometimes we go out to eat, and sometimes we keep it simple by heating up a frozen meal at home and enjoying a quiet evening together. Those little traditions help us reconnect while keeping life balanced with a busy family.
