Criticism of the Democratic Memory Law by the leader of the People's Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has opened a political front regarding the scope of what is known as the "grandchildren's law." The PP president accused the government this week of using it for electoral purposes to "manufacture new voters." "It's electoral engineering, an interest in gaining new voters," Feijóo stated.
