¿Por qué a algunas personas les da Depresión?

Depression is a disorder. It is a state of imbalance between neurotransmitters. There is a large increase in stress neurotransmitters. Stress neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, adrenaline, glutamate, histamine, among others. There is an increase in stress hormones such as cortisol, vasopressin, aldosterone, glucagon, among others. Depression is an inflammatory state of the body. There is an imbalance in the endocrine and immune systems (inflammation). This inflammatory state is responsible for the symptoms of depression. Part of the treatment for depression is to increase serotonin levels. By increasing serotonin, the stress neurotransmitters (norepinephrine, adrenaline, glutamate, histamine) will decrease, and the symptoms will diminish. When serotonin levels increase, mood, motivation, appetite, and sleep will improve. Treatment for depression must be taken for a specific period of time. If treatment is interrupted, the imbalance will return and the symptoms will reappear. Depression is the leading cause of suicide, so it is preventable. If you know someone with depression, be empathetic and supportive. Stigma and prejudice regarding mental health cause people with depression to avoid seeking care. Symptoms: Sadness or low mood. Anhedonia (Difficulty experiencing pleasure from activities that were previously enjoyed). Sleep disturbances. Changes in appetite. Fatigue or low energy. Changes in psychomotor activity. Thoughts of guilt. Difficulty concentrating or making decisions. Thoughts about giving up life. The goal is to raise awareness of the symptoms so that people suffering from major depression can be identified earlier and they can receive timely care. If you know someone who may be experiencing these symptoms, it is important that they seek evaluation from their doctor, psychologist, or psychiatrist.
