Its original construction took place in the late 19th century, but it underwent a major reconstruction in the early 1940s to take its current form. As with traditional Bosphorus waterside mansions, the ground floor is made of stone and the upper floors are wooden, with the mansion facing the sea. Situated on a plot of approximately 426 m², the three-story building houses a single residential unit on each floor. The mansion offers direct access to the sea via a 17-meter-long dock and boasts a spacious garden overlooking the Bosphorus. Through renovations, it has preserved its historical character while also adapting to modern comforts (for example, a contemporary office space was recently built for a company on the ground floor). The Bahabey Waterside Mansion, designated a Grade I Cultural Heritage Site, is one of the jewels of the Bosphorus with its elegant architecture and location. Historical Users and Notable Guests Bahabey Waterside Mansion is renowned for hosting important figures throughout its history. In the 1940s, the famous writer Sabahattin Ali resided for a time on the lower floor of the mansion, hosting many figures from the literary and artistic worlds. Especially during the days when Sabahattin Ali was preparing to publish the Marko Paşa humor magazine, figures such as painter Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, writer Vâlâ Nurettin, and politician Mehmet Ali Aybar frequently visited the mansion, and intellectual discussions took place in this historic space. According to an anecdote shared by the author's daughter, Filiz Ali, since the mansion lacked heating and hot water during those years, Sabahattin Ali would bathe once a week at the Çengelköy Hamam. In addition to Sabahattin Ali, the mansion was also associated with literary figures such as poets Orhan Veli and Ece Ayhan in the past; many artists and writers participated in conversations here at different times, meeting in the inspiring atmosphere of the Bosphorus. Sources on Baha Bey, for whom the mansion is named, are limited. Although the identity of Baha Bey, who lived during the Ottoman period and owned this structure, is not fully established, the mansion has survived to this day, named after him. -----
