Madjeen Isaac is a first-generation Haitian-American artist based in Brooklyn, whose practice is rooted in themes of home, diaspora, and belonging. Drawing from both her upbringing in New York and her ancestral ties to Haiti, she creates vivid, hybrid landscapes that imagine new realities shaped by memory, community, and environmental change. Her work reinterprets the concept of “lakou” - a shared communal space born out of the Haitian Revolution - as a living, evolving site of connection, care, and autonomy. Through these dreamlike worlds, Isaac explores what it means to “reinvent home away from home” and envision futures grounded in collective resilience and joy.
