Outward Bound (English Version)

At Salem, outdoor education is not just a concept, it is at the heart of our educational philosophy. "Outward Bound is a shining example of this, a formative adventure that each year becomes a key experience for the entire Grade 9 class during their time at Salem. Year after year, our Grade 9 students embark on this extraordinary adventure, spending nine days in the breathtaking wilderness of Norway, discovering their inner strength and the value of community. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the concept of going to the same place with the whole Grade 9 at Outward Bound. For the 10th anniversary, they were accompanied by drone filmmaker Dominic Fritze. Our students not only mastered the challenges of Outward Bound but also participated in the making of the film on location in Norway, actively shaping the content. The film “Outward Bound” provides an intense and authentic insight into the experiences of our students. It shows how they learn to push their limits and realise that their actions have far-reaching consequences for themselves and the community. They take responsibility for themselves and for others.
