Welcome to Season 4 of the Powwow Trail! 🪶🥁 When you see a powwow, you see the breathtaking regalia, you hear the power of the drum, and you feel the energy of Grand Entry. But what you don't see are the sleepless nights, the 1,000-mile road trips, and the unsung heroes working behind the scenes to keep the celebration alive. This year, we are bringing you closer to the arena than ever before. Whether you've been traveling the powwow trail for decades, or you are completely new to Native American culture and want to learn what this beautiful celebration is all about—there is a seat saved for you here. Grab some frybread, turn up the volume, and let's hit the trail. Welcome to the Pawnee Indian Veterans Homecoming! Join us for a powerful celebration of community, healing, and honoring our heroes. In this video, hear directly from Pawnee Indian Veterans Organization President Marvin Hand, Vice President Sean Williams, and Pawnee Nation Head Chief Pat Leading Fox about the year-long preparations that make this incredible event possible. For over 80 years, Homecoming has been a vital tradition. Today, it acts as a massive family reunion held right on Pawnee tribal land, giving our community a deep sense of ownership and pride. Here is what you can expect at this year’s gathering: Honoring Our Heroes: At its core, this event is about lifting up our veterans and active-duty soldiers, recognizing that our freedoms are made possible by their service. Incredible Contests: Experience the heartbeat of the drum and powerful dancing, featuring a special needs contest and a Women’s Fancy Bustle contest with a massive $2,000 first-place prize. Community Healing: Reconnect with loved ones and experience the "good medicine" that comes from our traditional songs and fellowship. Vendors & Merch: Explore vendor row for amazing food, browse local craft booths, and pick up official merchandise—including $30 ball caps and shirts—to remember the weekend. The Pawnee Nation has worked hard to ensure a welcoming environment for everyone, offering RV camping spots, showers, and hydration stations generously donated by the Pawnee Business Council. Rain or shine, the dance will go on, with backup indoor facilities prepped and ready!
