North American F-86A Sabre 1/48 (ClearProp!) Korean war Operation Stovepipe Build and final reveal
This is Douglas North American F-86A Sabre from Cear Prop in 1:48 scale. It represents F-86A 48-260 of the 336th Fighter Interception Squadron during its participation in the weather reconnaissance flights that were part of Operation Stovepipe in 1951. Wings and horizontal stabilizers and fuselage upper surfaces were painted in olive drab to hide plane against the terrain if viewed from above. Manufacturer Clear Prop! Model Number CP4824 Date of release New tool 2024 Price paid 68€ Decals in the box Three schemes Extras None (some of the decals) Airbrush used Fengda FE-183K, Badger 360 High points Separate flying surfaces, harnesses out of the box. Good surface and inside details, Good decals Low points Inside parts and fuselage/wings needs trimming to get parts fitted, gun area design is bad Timestamps: 0:00 Intro 0:32 Unboxing 3:43 My first model kit 4:03 Build 6:32 Cockpit done 6:52 Build continues 14:03 Masking 16:27 Painting 17:54 Weathering 19:24 Final assembly 21:38 Base 22:35 Final reveal rotating 23:15 Final reveal photos 24:11 Photos with other aircraft 24:39 Conclusions Kit needed some trimming to the inside parts to get proper fit and also wing/fuselage needes sanding to fit. There are a lot of photo etch parts some of which must be used to get slats drooped potition. Therefore this is not a kit for beginner. I intended to get 1/72 version as it will be released sometimes in near future, but as I now know what is needed to get this done I'm not rushing to get that one. There are no A-variant from other brands in 48th scale, but if you just want F-86 I think you could find easier build with less money from Airfix, Hasegawa, Academy etc. If someone notices, yes I cracked the canopy, but the replacement one is now done. Thanks for Clear Prop to provide it with the price of postages!
