Calamba might not be on every traveller’s radar, but it’s where national hero José Rizal was born — so I had to make the detour. In this video, I explore his hometown with no real plan. I wander the streets, search (unsuccessfully) for coffee, slip and bang my knee, argue with a SIM card, and stumble across statues, a church, a surprise street festival… and eventually, the Rizal Shrine itself.
