This time, I took a leisurely trip through Shiga Prefecture, home to Japan’s largest lake, Lake Biwa. I started in the waterfront town of Omihachiman, explored the history of Hikone Castle, and took a ferry to Chikubushima, the mysterious island floating on Lake Biwa. I ended my trip with a stroll through the streets of Nagahama, which exude a retro and nostalgic atmosphere (Travel dates: early May).
