Montrose Navy - a VaPer blend with rum casing
Some folks sent me questions and left comments and wanted to address them and make a new blend while doing so. First off, how do you decide what blenders work well together? Trial and error. Building a blend depends on your tastes, what you enjoy and is subjective. Certain things go well together i.e. Dark Burley and Perique. IMO. How much casing goes on a blend? Not much, like cologne a little goes a long way. The casing should be a compliment to the blend, like salt and pepper. Too much takes away from the tobacco flavor, again IMO. How to get started? The short answer is look at the ingredients of your favorite blend. Go to smokingpipes.com or pipesandcigars.com and order a small amount (1-2 ounces) and then sample each one individually. Make notes on what you taste and what you like and dislike about it. Once you decide what you like, go from there. This is your blend, you get to decide what you like or don't!
