George Washington Parkway Southbound | Part 1: Langley to Alexandria

Traveling southbound on the George Washington Memorial Parkway from eastbound on the Clara Barton Parkway via the American Legion Bridge to Northeast Alexandria. The parkway is named after George Washington, a key commander in the Revolutionary War and the first president of the United States under the US Constitution. This portion of the parkway, although not quite built to interstate standards, is controlled access and thus sees a lot of traffic (and even congestion) during rush hour, as many commuters treat it like a freeway. During off-peak hours on the other hand, this portion of the parkway, riding atop a hill looking down on the Potomac River, can be quite a scenic ride.
