ポケモンと一緒に宇宙の不思議を学ぼう　特別企画展「ポケモン天文台」が角田市で開幕〈宮城〉 (26/07/06 17:43)

A special exhibition, "Pokémon Observatory," which combines the popular game "Pokémon" with the study of space, opened on July 5th in Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture, attracting many families and other visitors from the very first day. The exhibition runs until September, coinciding with the summer holidays, and Kakuda City, the host city, is anticipating a large turnout. The "Pokémon Observatory" opened on the 5th. At the opening ceremony held at the venue, "Kakuda Denen Hall," Pikachu and Miyagi's support Pokémon, Lapras, made appearances, and officials celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The "Pokémon Observatory" is a series of exhibitions held nationwide by the National Astronomical Observatory and other organizations, and Kakuda City is the third location to host it. The exhibition allows visitors to learn about the mysteries of space, along with the ecology of Pokémon, through panels, videos, and models. This corner, where children could experience the difference in gravity between Earth and the Moon by throwing "Monster Balls," was very popular with them. A visiting child commented: "It was fun to see how far I could throw the ball towards the Moon, but not so far towards the Sun." Furthermore, there were life-sized models of Pokémon related to space, as well as real meteorites on display. This is a "Moon Stone" from the Pokémon world, alongside a real moon rock. We enjoyed our favorite Pokémon and learned about stars at the observatory, and I think the kids had a great time." "At first glance, Pokémon doesn't seem to have anything to do with astronomy, but it was very educational to see the similarities between these two things." The city of Kakuda, where the event is being held, is particularly excited about the arrival of the popular "Pokémon." In conjunction with the Pokémon Observatory event, Kakuda City is implementing 16 initiatives, including a free shuttle bus service to improve convenience. The person in charge is enthusiastic, saying, "We want to use this as an opportunity to further promote Kakuda as a city of space."
