Fleadh Mór Tramore in Co. Waterford, Ireland 1993

Fleadh Mór a large scale music festival is held at Tramore Racecourse in Waterford. Fleadh Mór takes place on 3 and 4 July 1993 at Tramore Racecourse in County Waterford. Festival goers, each paying £25 a day for their tickets, have the opportunity to enjoy practically nonstop music from noon to midnight. The event is billed as, The biggest music festival of its type ever staged in this country. The festival line-up includes 67 acts performing on three stages, including Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ray Charles, Jimmy Cliff and The Pogues. Also in the mix too are Christy Moore, Nanci Griffith, Hothouse Flowers, Joan Baez, Jerry Lee Lewis and Moving Hearts. It meant a huge logistical and security operation and Gardaí took some young people into custody to let the effects of drink wear off. The event is run by the Mean Fiddler, the biggest music festival operator in the United Kingdom founded by Waterford man Vince Power. Attending the Fleadh Mór are newlyweds Paul Hill of the Guilford Four and his wife Courtney Kennedy daughter of the late Senator Robert Kennedy who are honeymooning in Ireland.
