Traumblick auf den Königssee: MTB-Tour zur Archenkanzel & Kühroint

Join me on one of the most impressive bike tours in the Berchtesgaden region! My day started in the picturesque mountaineering village of Ramsau, from where the long and quite strenuous climb up to the Kührointalm was on the agenda. It was one of those perfect spring days: The sun was already blazing from a clear blue sky, while in the shaded areas only a few patches of snow remained as reminders of the past winter. Once I reached the top, I briefly left my mountain bike to walk the last few meters to the Archenkanzel viewpoint. Since the path is easily manageable, I was able to do it almost without any problems in my cycling shoes, even without special hiking boots. The view from up there is simply magnificent: You stand on a natural viewing platform and look almost vertically down to the emerald-green Königssee and the St. Bartholomä peninsula. In the distance, your gaze wanders between the steep mountain slopes of the Steinernes Meer – a panorama you won't soon forget. Once I reached the top, I left my mountain bike briefly to cover the last few meters to the Archenkanzel viewpoint on foot. Since the path is quite manageable, I was able to do it almost without any trouble, even without special hiking boots. For the return trip, I opted for a small loop to see a bit more of the area. Instead of retracing my steps, I descended via the Hammerstiel parking lot. This route adds a nice change of pace to the tour and leads back to the starting point in Ramsau on pleasant trails. A word of caution regarding the effort: I was riding a classic mountain bike without a motor on this tour. While the scenery is worth every effort, the steep climbs to Kühroint are extremely long. If you'd prefer to enjoy the day at a more relaxed pace and not arrive at the viewpoint completely exhausted, I would definitely recommend an e-bike or e-MTB. With one of these, the elevation gain in this setting is twice as enjoyable, and you might even be able to squeeze in a short hike afterward! . . . . ...
