The Church of God and Christ has been shaken to its core by the news of a 200-million-dollar lawsuit filed against the organization by Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company which names one of COGIC's general board members Bishop Jerry Maynard Sr. as a defendant. The church has been the subject of scandals and lawsuits of late. This is just another in what seems like a string of bad news. Ultimately if the allegations prove true, it's hard to see how J. Drew Sheard can stay on as leader of the denomination.
