By the time Orla was finished in October 2024, the lifeboat was virtually unrecognizable. The boat was painted in a sleek navy finish, and its interior was revamped with a modern yet rustic design. Sturgeon installed 1,100W of solar panels, added CCTV cameras, and even replaced the original engine with an outboard motor. The boat's living space now includes a full bathroom with a composting toilet, a kitchen built in the former engine bay, and a cozy bedroom. Sturgeon also upcycled his childhood dining table for use in the boat’s dinette area. Today, Orla has become not just a home but a symbol of what can be achieved with determination, creativity, and a little help from social media. Sturgeon now lives in London, where he enjoys low mooring fees while continuing to work on new projects.
