Helmut Lachenmann - Guero (Richard Whalley, piano)

In this piece the piano is treated like a guiro, and the piano is never struck in the traditional way. Instead, a novel sound world of increasing complexity is built up, made up of 7 types of 'glissando' and 4 types of 'pizzicato'. There is no other piano piece quite like this. Best listened to through headphones. Apologies for the squeaky piano stool, by the way.
