NATO’s annual summit, hosted in Ankara this year, is set to kick off on Tuesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be in the Turkish capital, expected to push for desperately needed air defenses amid relentless Russian pounding of Kyiv. Will he also try to raise the matter of Ukraine’s membership in the alliance? “I think the consensus is ‘no,’ in order, essentially, not to rock the boat,” Stuart Dowell, TVP World’s Political Editor, said, adding that discussing “membership at this stage is a step too far.” “A signal of that [is] we know that Zelenskyy is going to attend tomorrow [but] he’s not going to make a keynote address, and he’s not going to be there on Wednesday,” Dowell explained. “And people are saying that’s because of the potential of something happening that could annoy Trump.
