The fact that we find ourselves today coming from many different cultures means that the best of each culture can be brought to each of us. In the West, we essentially have science as a great differentiator. Science deeply studies what is before us. Yet, in this present time, we also find traditions that look inward, contemplative traditions, which bring us knowledge of the inner world. Overcoming naiveté is overcoming the image that understanding the external world is sufficient, or that understanding the inner world is sufficient.
