First up, we have the Rolex GMT Master II ref 16710, originally retailed for about $4k. At 40mm in diameter, it wears pretty true to its nominal size. Next, we have the NOMOS Zurich World Time, which retails for about $6,100, is 39.9mm in diameter, 11mm in thickness, and somehow wears larger thanks to the lack of any substantial bezel and thus the massive presence of the dial. The Zurich's in-house movement allows the watch to jump through all 24 time zones while holding the home-time steady. Though not innovative in any way, the Rolex GMT is still an iconic, classic GMT watch. Unlike the Rolex, the NOMOS is significantly easier to manipulate, with just the push of a button changing the current time and maintaining your home time with ease. When it comes to versatility, both are pretty equal, though the NOMOS definitely lacks the water resistance of the Rolex and thus is slightly more prohibitive in where it can be worn. At the end of the day, the Rolex will still be a Rolex, and the NOMOS won't, but on a spec, technical level...for once, it really does come down to the watch you most want to see on your wrist, subjectivity en maximus.
