Insertional inactivation using Lac Z gene (Blue white screening) | Biotechnology | Khan Academy
In this video, let's explore how we can use an enzyme producing selectable marker to select for the right cells. We will take the example of Lac Z gene, which naturally digests Beta galactosidase, and see how using X-gal, we can screen for the recombinants. This method takes less steps than using multiple antibiotic markers, is quicker, and therefore more suited. Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We offer quizzes, questions, instructional videos, and articles on a range of academic subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, economics, finance, grammar, preschool learning, and more.
